The Stone of Rosetta geocoin is 1.5 ” in diameter (approx. 38mm) and is 3 mm thick. The Stone of Rosetta geocoin was minted in antique silver, antique gold, antique copper, and XLE as a silver / gold two-tone. It was produced and distributed by the Geocoinshop in December 2007.
The Stone of Rosetta geocoin depicts a group of experts inspecting the stone during a Congress of Orientalists in 1874. On the back of the stone is a simplified representation of the original decree in three languages.
The actual Rosetta Stone contains carved text with three translations of a single passage: two in Egyptian language scripts (hieroglyphic and Demotic) and one in classical Greek. It was created in 196 BC, discovered by the French in 1799 at Rosetta and contributed greatly to the deciphering of the principles of hieroglyph writing. The text on the stone is a decree from Ptolemy V, describing the repeal of various taxes and instructions to erect statues in temples.
The Stone of Rosetta geocoin designed page can be found here with the original history of the coin, however, it’s in German.

Brahean Mars Edition Geocoin
This beautiful geocoin is a limited edition coin with only 25 pieces minted. According to the design owner, Dimkasmir, no more will be minted. Dimkasmir wrote this about the “Being one of the two coins in the new Brahean Planet “series”, it was inspired by the red planet and is thus antique and polished gold with red enamel on the outer ring. There were only 25 pieces of this edition produced and there will not be a remint”
This coins beauty and rarity have already resulted in sales on eBay for over $80.
The more common Brahean geocoins are well known and sought after in the geocaching community. Tycho Brahe was a noted scientist who helped define early astronomy, navigation, and other fields of study. Even though some of his theories were found to be incorrect when more modern methods were discovered, he still left behind beautiful works of scientific art. This kind of art is long lost in today’s technical world. The coin is a 3-D rendition of one of his navigation charts. The coin consist of two opposing spinning rings and a round spinning globe. The texture was designed to give the coin an old world look and feel.

This geocoin is based on the Flower of Life design. The Flower of Life is a geometrical figure, composed of six, evenly spaced, overlapping circles of the same diameter, that are arranged to form a flower-like geometric pattern with a six fold symmetry like a hexagon.
It’s considered by many to be a symbol of sacred geometry, also known as God’s Equation, depicting the fundamental forms of space and time. It’s a visual representation of the life force that is thought to connect all sentient beings.
The Sacred Geometry and it’s symbols have been used throughout history by philosophers, artists, and architects to express the perfection of form.
The Flower of Life Geocoin was produced in black nickel, antique silver, antique gold and satin gold. The seven circles are depicted with glow in the dark gradient colors. This geocoin is 40 mm in diameter, and 3 mm thick. Only 300 were produced, and it was initially released in October 2007. This coin is trackable on Geocaching.com

Well, I wasn’t sure I wanted to post this with so many wonderful new coins coming out…but I just couldn’t resist as I’m too impatient. The sample pictures aren’t very good and I wish I could take better photos but I just can’t. We still have some work to do but hopefully we can get it all worked out soon. These started out as a new personal coin but in the end I decided to go the other route and not have our name on it. We’ll work on a personal coin another time.
So, how did this all come about? Well, our Surname means dragon
German: from Middle High German trache, drache ‘dragon’, hence probably a habitational name for someone who lived at a house distinguished by the sign of a dragon, or a nickname for someone with a fierce or fiery temperament. – (They hit that on the head)
Anyway, maybe that’s why I’ve always been fascinated by the myth surrounding my favorite constellation – Draco. Draco is a constellation that winds around the little dipper and is its brightest in the month of August – the month of my birth as well – coincidence? I think not cool.gif. You can see this constellation everyday just like Andromeda. Dragons often played a role in myths and legends. In these stories the gods would often battle the dragons for control of the Earth. When defeated, the dragons were flung up into the skies.
The most famous myth calls this Dragon Ladon. Ladon was a dragon that guarded the golden apples on a tree in a garden tended by the Hesperides, the daughters of Atlas. Hercules was sent to obtain the apples while under pledge to Eurystheus. He learned from Nereus that he could not pluck the apples himself, but must get help from Atlas. Hercules shot and killed Ladon with an arrow, making way for Atlas to enter and pluck the golden apples. The goddess Hera was greatly distressed by the death of Ladon and placed the dragon in the heavens. This coin represents Draco in the heavens always visible over all the Earth.
Again, it seemed very fitting as a personal coin design and yet I thought it might be even better without our tag on it. So that’s it and I hope you like them.

Earth Turtle Geocoin 2008
The Earth Turtle 2008 geocoin is an original design by Stepahnie Witham of Tsunrisebey.com. The coins are designed and minted in Montana. The designers website says that she gets most of her designs from Mother Nature. She hand draws the original designs with paper and pencil.
The Earth Turtle geocoin is 2 inches in diameter, and 3 mm thick, using translucents and hard enamels. 500 of these were originally minted: 125 Antique Silver (green); 125 Antique Silver (purple); 150 Polished Gold (multi-color); 100 Polished Nickel (red/black/white).
Visit the designers website to see other designs and be sure to read her FAQ’s: http://tsunrisebey.com/ (link opens in a new window) Apparently she is still populating her online storefront, be sure to visit there often.
We like this design, as a matter of fact, it’s one of our favorites and she has some amazing designs that have a very pleasing “earth-like” quality. When we’re ready to mint our first geocoin, we’re going to ask Stepahnie to design the coin for us.
There are several color variations of the Earth Turtle. Click HERE to visit the designers website to see the full size images. (link opens in a new window)
